With only about 1,500 people and occupying less than two miles of land, Pittsboro, Indiana, is a charming example of a typical small Midwestern town.
Situated in Hendricks County near Avon and Brownsburg and only about 30 miles West of Indianapolis, Pittsboro enjoys close proximity to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. NASCAR fans will recognize the name from its claim to fame in the racing world-NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon was raised in Pittsboro before going on to become one of the most famous athletes in the world.
Located only minutes from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, 
Pittsboro is home to many racing fans. O’Reilly Raceway Park, a nationally known drag racing track, is also in Hendricks County. Many race car drivers train and have their headquarters in the area, and the county also boasts the largest annual drag race drag race in the world, the US Nationals.
In addition to being only a few miles from Speedway, which is known as the racing capital of the world, Pittsboro is located near a number of other fun-filled destinations for the whole family. Nearby Avon has several large sports parks, including one entirely devoted to softball, and just a few miles away lies one of everyone’s favorite Indianapolis attractions, the Indianapolis Zoo. Hendricks County residents can drive just a short distance to spend a sunny afternoon with monkeys, giraffes, polar bears, and even a baby elephant. There are also two apple orchards close by, one in Danville and one in Clayton, that offer plenty of fall fun, including apple picking, for kids of all ages.
And in addition to all of the family-centered entertainment, for some adults-only fun, the Chateau Thomas Winery, one of Indianapolis‘ premiere vineyards, is only a short distance away from Pittsboro in Plainfield. Visitors are given generous samples of the internationally award-winning wines, and tours are offered several times a day. Each visitor even leaves with their own complimentary souvenir wine glass.
